This music is written for the event "Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures.
Portraits and Stories from Yorkshire" in 2013/14. This exhibition of photographs and stories is to celebrate International Women’s Day of the enterprising girls and women who have participated in the Connecting Enterprising Women's programme.

The exhibition features portraits by photographers Nick Gregan and Johanna Hilton, accompanied by extracts from the individual stories of the girls’ and women’s journeys through life. It includes portraits of 6 of the women MPs in Yorkshire photographed in one of their favourite locations, of Baroness Margaret Eaton and Deborah Willis (the Founding Patrons of the project), of 15 women entrepreneurs involved with CEW, and of 59 girls from Leeds East Academy, David Young Community Academy and John Smeaton Community College.

In this music, 48 of these portraits are described by various orchestra instruments and musical themes. Each person has their own instrument and theme, representing their individual style. The young girls bring their enthusiasm and new ideas, the mature women bring experience and powerful determination. If they all play together, they can create a very powerful impact.
